The Heart of the operation |
|
Patty is the heart and soul of our program. Her love of the Breed and animals in general is the greatest asset that any breeding program could have. She has developed a close working relationship with all of our dogs. Any time you get a chance to see her in the field with any of the dogs as either a field trial or a hunt test, you can see by her face just how much she not only enjoys the competition she also enjoys showing off our dogs and just watching them have fun doing what comes natural to them - Finding Birds.
We have always enjoyed the people we meet at the trials and tests and all the information that we share amongst us. The main goal we set on each outing is to give the dogs a chance to run and have fun. The competition is really secondary, it is the mental and physical exercise for the dogs and their enjoyment.
If you get a chance, stop out to watch Patty and the dogs have fun at one of the many field events that we enter throughout the U.S.

CH - Britt Haven's Silka "SILKA" - JH
|
|
Silka was our first venture into the Brittanys. She came from Britt Haven Kennels where she was whelped on May 8th, 2005. When I brought her home to Patty for her birthday, it was love at first sight. Silka was a gift that I knew would be the best of her birthday presents. Her love for the Brittanys started when she went to her brother's house to watch their children while they went on a short vacation. On her return all she could talk about was the cute little puppy they had and just how comical and loving it was.
I started my search and made a lot of calls. I asked breeders all around if they had puppies and if not, who they would recommend. After a long list and may calls, it filtered to Dr. Emil Berlet of Brit Haven. He came highly recommended and had a female available - We named her Silka. I brought her home and the love affaire started, and we have never regretted it one bit. Thanks Doc!

CH - Ammo's Bugle Boy "BLU" - JH
|
|
It wasn't long after we got Silka that we decided that we would like to get a second dog. This was a two fold idea. First and most important, growing up on the farm and having dogs in the past, I knew that dogs are social and when raised with other dogs, they are happier. This gives them someone of their own type to run and play with, and these dogs do need exercise. Second, if we were to get into a breeding program we would need a male to start our own line to work from.
After a long and extensive search, I came across Sandra Leavens from Georgia and her line, Ammo's Brittanys. I spent many days talking with Sandra about her dog she had. Sandra knew she had something special with Blu who was whelped on May 20th, 2005 and really wanted to make sure he went to the best home she could find. With my calls and telling her my plans and ambitions, she finally took the chance and let us have Blu. Boy were we ever LUCKY, Thanks Sandra.

Ammo's Misty Morning Breeze "MISTY" - JH |
|
It wasn't long after we (Patty) had started to learn the ins and outs of Showing, Field Trails and the Hunt Tests from trial and error, but mostly from our good friend Sandra Leavens, that we decided we were committed to the breed. Sandra knew this also and when she had a litter on September 9th, 2009, that was inline with Blu, she called us. Sandra offered us a puppy that she felt was going to be a top line pup - Misty.
Misty has been a pure pleasure and worked into our family with no problems. She has lots of energy and covers a field with little effort. She finished her JR Hunter in two weekends and has place in several field trials. Misty has a great personality and a real love for the field, just like her half brother Blu. Around the house, she is well mannered, as they all have to be. All our dogs have free roam of our house day and night. They also all fight to sleep with us.
Misty is out having a great time with Burl Hicks in Mississippi, being broke. From all he has told us, he is having a great time with her and her sister Macey. He has high praise for their training progress and running abilities.

BluSilk's Flamming Arrow "ARCHER" - JH |
|
Archer is a puppy from the breeding of Silka and Sandra's - Ammo's Gamblin on Dually. Both Archer and Bailey were born on May 25th, 2008. Archer was one of 4 Boys and Bailey was one of 4 Girls. Through out Archers growing, he has demonstrated that he may have what it takes to mage a good gun dog. He certainly is a very laid back dog and very well socialized to be with anyone. With Archer, we hope to take him the route of Field Trials and Hunt Tests and then the Therapy Dog route. He has the personality to just be with anyone and really enjoy them.
Archer's calm demeanor is apparent the first time you see him. He's not shy to make friends, yet not so bold as to make anyone feel uneasy at his approach. We feel that Archer's nose and his personality is a perfect set to make him a good candidate to sire several litters. He keeps in line the goal of temperament and nose to go from the ring, to the field, to the home as a life long companion. We are happy with him as with all our dogs, no matter how well any of them do.
Archer placed Second Money Dog in the Western Futurities and had over seven finds in the field trials, yet no placement. No Matter, it was fun for all.

| Second Major - well on her way!! |
|
BluSilk's Shot of Irish Cream "BAILEY - JH |
|
Bailey, as stated above, was born May 25th, 2009. She was second in the litter, right in front of Archer. Needles to say, they grew together and are the best of friends. Bailey is more of the rowdy one of the two. She has a good nose and like Archer has good confirmation form. Bailey is a little more outgoing than Archer, yet is just at home among strangers as he is. Bailey fits right in with all the dogs, in spite of being the smallest in stature. She may be the smallest, but is never afraid to stand head to head or toe to toe with any of the others.
She has the same soft look as her mother and demonstrates the same personality traits. Bailey has energy and like all the others, has completed her Jr Hunter is a short time. In one test, both Archer and Bailey were the only ones to score perfect 10's. Bailey is starting her shows and is showing promise. We hope that she will follow in her mother's path, who has just finished her Champion. Both Bailey and Misty are finished with their MAJORS and are now just working on the easy points.
Bailey placed Fourt in the Westerns and had over 6 finds in the field. Again, no placement but we had a great time showing them just what we have . Lots of new friends were made and it was great to be exposed to a different environment.
