Welcome to BluSilk Brittanys. Our goal is to provide limited quality litters. We do not breed for quantity of value but rather quality of breed. To this end, as hobby breeders we strive to breed dogs that will be as at home in the Show Ring, Field Trials, Hunt Tests or the family. Our first goal is to the breed as a family dog. This would be one of temperament and very social. Then we want the show and field sides to come in for a dog that will do justice to the original line of the breed. We strive for the elusive DUAL BRITTANY.
Between showing and Trialing our own dogs, we watch the field for what we hope will make good mates for our line. Being hobby breeders, we look to do at most 3 breeding's a year right now and for the near future. The breeding's will be as selective as we are to whom we let adopt a puppy from us.
The Brittany is a very active breed. It requires daily exercise to stay physically fit and mentally challenged. These are not "HYPER" dogs, just dogs that have a love for the field. They like to smell, track and point birds all the time. It is important to have a place to let them have free roam off lead at times to exercise their freedom.
This is why we are selective as to who we are willing to place our puppies with. Though they will make great house pets, they cannot be shut in. They need to be taken on daily walks and run at least twice a week. We will not adopt out a puppy to anyone that plans on it being a "gift" for someone else. Only the original owner may adopt our dogs and must fill out a questionnaire about where and how the dog will be kept. To this end, if approved, the puppy will then be registered to the new owner directly.
This all may seem like a difficult process, but it usually goes very smoothly and quickly with the right people. We are responsible breeders in the fact that we will guarantee our dogs in writing. Short of sickness of cancer or other non genetic disease, we will take back any puppy of dogs that we breed if the owners are unsatisfied with it. This is another reason we want to be sure that the right owner and right puppy are placed together from the start.
